The Brief
A marketplace that bridges buyers & sellers across Syria
AlBazar needed a complete mobile experience
— from first open to live listing — that felt trustworthy, fast, and natural for Arabic-speaking users browsing property and cars on the go.
The goal was not just an app, but a platform that could monetize through listings at scale while keeping the user experience frictionless for both buyers and sellers.

The Challenge
Complex problems, simple solutions
RTL & Arabic typography at scale
Every screen, form, and component needed to be designed natively right-to-left — not just mirrored — to feel natural for Arabic readers on both iOS and Android.
Two user types, one coherent product
Buyers browse; sellers list. Both needed powerful, fast flows without the app feeling like two separate products stitched together.
Search across wildly different categories
Properties need bedrooms and area filters. Cars need mileage, fuel type, and model year. One search UI had to serve both — with distinct but consistent filter panels.
Trust through messaging & reviews
In-app chat and a star-rating system were essential for building confidence between strangers transacting in real estate and high-value vehicles.
30+
Unique screens designed
Spanning onboarding, home, search, listing detail, posting, messaging, profile, and more.
4×
Listing categories
Real estate for rent, real estate for sale, land & buildings, and vehicles — each with their own specialized flows.
App Screens
Every screen, considered
From splash to chat — a scroll through the full user journey, designed with care for spacing, clarity, and conversion.

Design Process
How we got there
A structured process that kept every decision tied to real user needs in the Syrian market.
Step 01
Discovery & Market Research
Analyzed competitor classifieds in the MENA region. Mapped the mental models of Syrian buyers and sellers. Defined the core personas and job-to-be-done for each category.
Step 02
Information Architecture
Built a category tree and user flow map covering 30+ screens. Defined the content hierarchy for each listing type — property, vehicle, land — and aligned it with Arabic reading patterns.
Step 03
Visual Design System
Established the yellow-and-black brand language, RTL-ready component library, iconography in a consistent outline style, and responsive type scale grounded in Arabic readability best practices.
Step 04
Prototype & Iterate
Delivered high-fidelity prototypes for all primary flows. Ran review cycles covering onboarding, listing creation, search and filter, listing detail, messaging, and account management.
Key Features
Built for every kind of listing
AlBazar handles four distinct listing types — each with its own tailored creation flow, filter system, and detail view.

amenities, room count, floor, negotiability badge
Property for sale
same as rentals with down payment and installment filters
Land & Buildings
category (residential / commercial / agricultural / industrial), sale or rent toggle, Google Maps integration
Vehicles
visual car-type selector, make & model search, mileage, year, fuel type, payment method
In-app messaging
chat, call, and WhatsApp shortcuts on every seller profile
Ratings & reviews
5-star distribution chart and user comments on every listing
Outcomes
The numbers that matter
30+
Screens delivered
A complete design system covering every user journey — from the very first screen to managing active listings, reading messages, and reviewing account settings.
100%
RTL native
Every component, layout, and interaction was designed natively for Arabic right-to-left reading — not adapted from a left-to-right template — ensuring natural flow for the target audience.
4
Distinct listing flows
Rentals, property for sale, land & buildings, and vehicles each received tailored creation flows, filter panels, and detail screens that match their unique data requirements.
Outcomes
What this project taught us
01
RTL isn't a mirror flip
Right-to-left design is a completely different spatial logic, not just a flipped LTR layout. Icons, navigation gestures, and reading anchors all need to be reconsidered from scratch. We designed RTL-first, not RTL-after.
02
One filter UI, two universes
A property search filter and a car search filter have almost nothing in common — yet they needed to feel like the same product. The solution was a consistent shell with category-specific content, not category-specific UIs.
03
Trust is a design feature
In high-value transactions, doubt kills conversions. The negotiability badge, star ratings, seller profile with member-since date, and direct WhatsApp link were all designed deliberately to reduce friction and build confidence.
04
Yellow does the heavy lifting
A strong brand color isn’t just decoration — it’s the fastest trust signal a user gets. AlBazar’s yellow communicates warmth, energy, and marketability at a glance. It became the structural DNA of every screen.
